We’re Creating Nutrient-Rich Compost from Food Waste!
Composting with us is simple.
Just collect your food scraps, transfer them to your collection bucket, and place it curbside on pickup day.
Step One
Receive your collection bucket
When you sign up with us, we will provide you with a 6-gallon curbside collection bucket and lid. Keep the curbside collection bucket in a cool and dry place (i.e. garage).
Step Two
Collect waste in a scrap keeper
As you go about your day, scrape your food waste into a “scrap keeper”. These countertop or undersink bins are available here or other online retailers. They come in 1-2 gallon sizes, some with carbon filters for odor control, offering a convenient way to collect food scraps daily.
Step Three
Place waste in a paper bag
Once the scrap keeper is full, transfer the food waste into a paper or compostable bag and place it in the curbside collection bucket. Paper bags work best to help absorb moisture and reduce odor between pickups. Ensure the lid is secured/closed to reduce the risk of pests and rodents.
Step Four
Set bucket out on pickup day
On collection day, place the collection bucket with its lid in the front of the house visible from the street (by curb, side of driveway, front porch). We pick up food scraps once per week; which day of the week will be based on your address. Bins typically receive a quick wiped out with compostable paper towel and sprayed with a natural essential oil solution to minimize odor and mold growth.
Types of Food Waste We Collect
All waste must be free of contaminants, trash, packaging, stickers, plastic, or any other inorganic material. Your food waste will be turned into nutrient-rich compost used in organic gardening and to amend soils. Help us to keep our compost clean and healthy!
